Hello and thank you for visiting my website,
My name is Aileen McCormack and I am Person Centred Counsellor working in the Glasgow City and surrounding areas. I am also an experienced free-lance trainer and lecturer of counselling. I have been working in all three areas for over five years and feel they complement each other well.
Taking the decision to come to counselling can be a daunting and emotional one. You may have had good or bad experiences of counselling in the past or have never been before, all of which may influence your decision to engage with counselling. From my experience, clients frequently come to me for counselling as they find it too difficult to speak to family, friends and partners about challenging or unsettling issues or feelings. The counselling room offers the neutral space that can allow you to talk openly, freely and without judgement.
The aim of Person Centered Counselling and how I work, is to help build a trusting relationship in order for you to explore the issues that are concerning you. It is not for me to give you advice or tell you what to do. The Person Centered Approach believes that the client has the resources and ability to become more aware and make changes in their life. I aim to provide a warm and open space for you to work at your own pace.
Since qualifying, I have spent four years working as a Counsellor for both Crossreach, Scotland and two years with the Lesbian and Gay Foundation, Manchester. Prior to my counselling career I was employed within the homeless sector and a Macmillan Cancer Support funded programme.
I see clients in the city centre and Kelvingrove areas of Glasgow. Please see the FAQ for more details on location and fees.
